Laser tag technology – shoot, part 1: Elimination of spreading IR beam signals
At the heart of all laser tag systems is the IR or laser beam, the most important information channel. The beam carries all the tags and hit information and is critical for the perfect game experience. Accurate and realistic gameplay relies on the tagger being able to provide precise data flow and hit registration in all circumstances. To create gamer satisfaction and long-term repeat business, shots fired, hits received, must be accurate and registered every time.
Perhaps you have already encountered the situation when your players grumpily indicate that they have hit players (often their own teammates) who were not aimed at with their weapons. Those who were not even in front of them, but to the right or left. They ask anxiously what the reason for this is, it spoils their game experience and drastically reduces their trust.
Belong the most important functions at laser tag games as the shooting distance (should be min. 150 – 200 metres in bright sunshine) and the rock-solid reliable receiver (with 100% hit detection) the third most important factor is the elimination of the signal’s spread.
When the IR LED is not precisely adjusted and there is no well-constructed LED tube, within 3-5 meters the shot signals spread in a wide range and hit players around. No matter if any player accidently hits the teammates nearby is a source of a major frustration for all players.
